Herefordshire

 

Herefordshire has one of the lowest populations of any county in England and is totally un spoilt by large influxes of people therefore it is a tourists dream with lots of country walks fishing on the rivers lugg or wye or some really challenging golf courses.

Sight seeing for the culturally minded includes the Mappa Mundi and Chained Library in the Cathedral along with the museums and art gallery, for the more adventures try horse riding go carting canoeing climbing or mountain biking.

Hereford Cathedral

A place of worship since Saxon times, Hereford Cathedral contains some of the finest examples of architectural excellence from Norman times up to the present day, including the Romanesque Nave, the Shrine of St Thomas in the North Transept and the award winning new Library Building funded by the late Sir Paul Gety.


Mappa Mundi and Chained Library Exhibition

The stories of Hereford's famous medieval map of the world and the unique Chained Library (with the earliest book dating from the eight century) are told through interactive displays and changing exhibitions in the purpose built 'High-tech medieval' New Library Building.

Underground Thrills

Want something different, do you want something to challenge you then try the man made cave system. A maze of passages & chambers some with stalactites. on your adventure you will test your nerve in the Cheese Press, squeeze through the sausage machine and get soaked under a 4m waterfall. with a choice of routes and challenges this unique experience is suitable for all ages.


High Adventures

There are a number of indoor climbing walls offering tons of exciting challenges for all abilities. For the more experienced there are a number of courses that test your abilities.

There are a full range of instructed activities both indoors and out, taking you from complete beginner to confident lead climber.


Kayaking

Ideal for novices and those wishing to improve their water skills. fun taster lessons on the purpose built canoe lakes are a great fun way to start kayaking. Small groups with qualified instructors introduce you to this exiting sport through fun games and challenges.
